Adell Brown

Hinesville

Adell Russell Brown passed away at her home Saturday, May 27, 2017.  She was 90 years old. 

Born December 10, 1926, in Port Hull, Alabama, to Albert and Mary Russell, she was the baby of thirteen children and the last surviving sibling.  She lived in Hinesville for the past 27 years where she was a very active member of South Main Baptist Church.

She was married to Bernise Brown and this union produced eight children.  After raising her children, she traveled and visited many friends and relatives throughout the United States.  She loved cooking and baking and was quite good at both.  She loved watching The Price is Right, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune, but her favorite show was Touched by an Angel.  She enjoyed attending church and sang in the choir.  She was truly a mother who was worthy of our honor and praise.

She was preceded in death by four of her children, Lillian, Bernise, Jr., Elestine and Arthur; and a grandson, Bernard. 

She is survived by four children, Kenneth Brown (Pastor Wilhelmenia Brown), Kelly Brown (Cathy Warner), Elaine Brown, and Eva Brown; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.  Last year she became a great-great-grandmother to one.  She is also survived by her lifelong friend, Mrs. Carrie Lee Johnson, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2017, at South Main Baptist Church, with visitation being held for one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in Hinesville Cemetery. 

The family requests memorial donations be made in lieu of flowers to South Main Baptist Church, 1166 South Main St, Hinesville, GA 31313.
