Melba Yvonne Hughes

Hazelhurst Melba Yvonne Hughes, 75, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness. Melba was born November 6, 1939 to the late Everette and Nellie Powell. She loved her family and had a heart of gold. She enjoyed gardening and putting away her own vegetables. She is preceded in death by two husbands, Ray Robinson and JB Lee; two daughters, Judy Lee and Wanda Evans; and two sisters, Myrtle Henderson and Mary Vanzant. Survivors include her husband James Hughes; a daughter, Elaine Daniel; five grandchildren, Kim, Stephanie, Christy, JR and Irene; five great grandchildren; a brother, Mac Powell; a sister, Melody Padgett; and numerous nieces and nephews. A service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2015 at Carter Funeral Home Bryan Chapel with the Reverend PH Herdon officiating.
