Cathrine “Kathy” Kersey passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 6, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah, Georgia.
She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Kersey; her children, Matthew Shank and wife Kelly, Crystal Floyd and husband Patrick, and Ashley Volmer; and her grandchildren, Wyatt Floyd, Chris Gaudet, Tristan Gaudet, and Erica Volmer. She is also survived by her sister, Doris Gilner.
Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family deeply. Known to the community as “Miss Kathy” or “Nana,” she was a familiar and cherished presence as the manager of Handyland Exxon for nearly 40 years. Her kindness, dedication, and friendly spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She also enjoyed collecting eagle figurines.
She leaves behind a legacy of hard work, compassion, and devotion—a life defined by showing up for others and loving without reservation. Kathy will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, starting at 6:00 p.m at Carter Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 1:30 p.m in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville
