Claudia Bacon Smith

Claudia Bacon Smith died on May 15, 2026.

She was born on October 17, 1933, and was a lifelong resident of Hinesville, Georgia. She was a graduate of Bradwell Institute and attended Valdosta State University. She was retired from the Liberty County Board of Education. Her best job and greatest joy were loving her children and grandchildren. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hinesville and the Ollie Darsey Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Charles E. Smith, her parents, Harley A. and Jordye M. Bacon, and a sister, Hilda B. Neeley.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jimmy Martin, two sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Cindy Smith, and Michael and Brenda Smith. Her grandchildren Marty Martin (Nickie), Cole Martin (Keeley), Rachael, and Brett Smith. Her great-grandchildren Jamie, Cameron, Brooklyn and Lanie Martin. Two sisters, June Salter and Joye Blyer (Bob). Her extended family, whom she dearly loved called her Gran, Maggie Horton, John, Kayla, Demri, Clara, Evelynn, Ben, Margaret, Olivia, and Violet Floyd. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Marty and Cole Martin, Rachael and Brett Smith, John and Ben Floyd, Gene Salter, and Don Kennedy

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, starting at 5 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Hinesville First United Methodist Church.

Burial will immediately follow the service in the Hinesville Cemetery.
