David (Dave) Lester Cates

David Lester Cates (Dave) passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021 surrounded by his son, Kurt James Cates, and the love of his life, his wife Stephanie Stevens Cates.

Dave was born on April 17, 1935 in Jacksonville, FL. He loved life and shared that love and much laughter with everyone he met. If you knew Dave, your life was richer for the experience. 

In addition to his wife and son, he is survived by his sisters, Sharon Cates and Caroline Ford; grandchildren, Marisa Cates Costa and Devin Cates; nephews, Spencer Ford and Keith Whittles; and niece, Allison Siers.

Visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:30 on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Carter Funeral Home Bryan Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. in Barrett-Miner Cemetery, 1714-1798 Barrett Cemetery Road NE, Ludowici, GA 31316.

Pallbearers will be Harry L. Stevens, Michael J. Stevens, Toby L. Poston, Sr., Toby L. Poston, Jr., and Kurt J. Cates.
