Doris Ann Leslie Spurgeon, born on March 5, 1935, in South Charleston, Clark County, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025. Doris was a proud graduate of Springfield Clark JVS High School, class of 1953, and her early years set the foundation for a life marked by dedication and service.

For 16 years, Doris embraced the role of a dedicated Air Force wife, standing by her husband with unwavering support during his time of service. This commitment reflected the strength of her character and her understanding of the sacrifices made by military families.

Doris had a fulfilling career with Verizon, where she worked in several states before retiring after more than 30 years. Her time with the company was a source of pride, showcasing her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.

Doris is survived by her beloved children: Thomas Spurgeon, Audrey Delphia, Leslie Altman, and Vanessa Thompson. She also leaves behind a cherished legacy in her 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward.

Among her friends was John Hamilton, who treasured their friendship, and her loyal companion, Henry, a dog who brought her much joy.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Spurgeon, and her daughter, Vivian Leavens. She was also predeceased by her parents, Mary Buck Leslie and David Melvin Leslie, as well as her siblings: Ronald Leslie, Darrel Leslie, David Leslie, and Jerrilieu (Judy) Leslie Mattis.

Doris Ann Leslie Spurgeon will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to family, her robust professional accomplishments, and the love she shared with those fortunate enough to know her. Her life was a testament to resilience, love, and service, and she will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.

Safe in the arms of Jesus, she will be missed dearly by her entire family.

Family will receive friends on Friday October 3rd, 2025 at 10 A.M. at Carter Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday October 3rd, 2025 at 11 A.M. in the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville Georgia at 1 P.M. on Friday October 3rd, 2025.
