He was born on January 24, 1950, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to David Earl and Alice Williams. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James H Williams, and sisters, Edna Hartlage and Nancy Teeple.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn and his three children; David E Williams (Lori) New Fairfield, CT; James R Williams (Andrea) Gainesville, VA; and Jennifer E Williams, Hinesville, Georgia; and 3 grandchildren, Elizabeth, New Fairfield, CT; Christopher and Jackson Williams, Gainesville, VA. and nephews Rodney Owens (Pam) and Gregory Owens, and niece Jackie Hartlage.
Gary was an Army Veteran and served in Korea. He worked in the nursing profession for many years and was known for his kindness toward the elderly in his care. Gary continued his interest in that field by providing medical assistive devices to people with disabilities and the elderly. Gary was an avid fisherman and had favorite fishing spots in Georgia, Kentucky, and Indiana. He was a Bluegrass music fan and was a self-taught mandolin player.
Woodworking was an interest he acquired in his later years. He made quality furniture pieces that are treasured by family and friends. He had a love for nature and took special delight in watching the various birds land on his bird feeders. Working alongside his wife in the yard, planting flowers or doing other yard work, was a special time for him. He had a knack for telling a joke or story or sharing his many interests with others. He was very proud of his sons and the lives and families they made. And his daughter, with her special needs and innocent ways, gave him such joy. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his family and friends.
