Harvey C. Friend Jr.

Harvey C. Friend Jr., a beloved father, Pawpaw, and brother, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, in Ludowici, Georgia, surrounded by his cherished family. Born on November 17, 1946, Harvey lived a life that celebrated the simple pleasures and joys of family, friends, and nature.

As an avid fisherman, Harvey found joy in the tranquility of the water, often spending his days indulging in the peaceful pastime that brought him great happiness. His love for the outdoors extended to riding his golf cart and gathering with loved ones for spirited games of cards, reflecting his lively spirit and enjoyment of camaraderie.

Harvey’s legacy lives on through his children: Billy (Wendy) Friend of Winder, GA; Bobby (Sharon) Friend of Winder, GA; Lisa (Mark) Carinus of Bluffton, SC; Michael (Lee) Friend of Midway, GA; and Tammy Hansen of Winder, GA. He was a proud grandfather to Taylor Pittman, Kristin (Justin) Pierce, Blake Friend, Christopher (Casey) Friend, Josh (Erika) Krieger, Jessica Krieger, Emaleigh Carinus, Briana (Jeremy) Rixon, Jordan Dearman, Brooke Massey, Seth Hansen, Rebecca Burnette, Savannah Friend, and Gracie Friend, and a loving great-grandfather to Harper Friend, Scarlett Friend, Lily Krieger, Kolton Turner, Bentley Krieger, Kye Smith, Brea Birkholz, Aleigha Birkholz, Kyo Superiano, Jaiden Superiano, Haru Superiano, Brooklyn Williams, Amillia Pittman, and Millana Pittman, as well as Zahara Pittman.

He is also survived by his siblings: Carl (Laura) Friend of Eighty Four, PA; Loretta (Dave) Friend of Swanton, MD; Vicki (Lawrence) Bernard of Oakland, MD; Bill Friend of Oakland, MD; David (Rhonda) Friend of Winder, GA; Olive (Andrew) Gray of Oakland, MD; and Jenny Garner of McHenry, MD. Harvey was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nina Bischoff Friend, and siblings Ralph Friend and Wilma Jean Brown.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Carter Funeral Home starting at 5 p.m.
