Helen Easton Stanford, born on December 22, 1928, in Staunton, Virginia, peacefully departed this life at home on November 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Helen devoted over 30 years of her career as the Director of Family and Children Services at DFACS, where her tireless efforts profoundly impacted countless lives. Her leadership extended beyond her directorship, as she proudly served as president of the Fraser Counseling Center. In recognition of her unwavering commitment to child advocacy, the Helen Haven Children Advocacy Center was named in her honor, symbolizing her lifelong devotion to helping children and families in need.
An exemplary student, Helen graduated salutatorian of her high school, a testament to her academic prowess and determination. Throughout her life, she maintained a steadfast dedication not only to her career but also to her faith, never missing church or devotion. She was a long time member, Elder, and Deacon of Hinesville First Presbyterian Church Her love for her children was paramount. Helen's personality shone brightly; she was known for her punctuality and her willingness to assist others whenever the opportunity arose. Her lifelong devotion to helping those in need was matched by her love for reading and giving, which enriched her life and the lives of those around her.
Among her proudest accomplishments, Helen was honored as Business woman of the Year while being a member of Business women of America. This recognition served as a reflection of her remarkable professional journey and the influence she had in her community.
Helen is survived by her son, Lin Stanford Jr. (Jo Ann); grandchildren Michael Stanford (Windy) and Kari Horton; great-grandchildren Noah Himes (Katie), Ashton Dietz (Caroline), and Adrianna Steffen; sisters Georgia Ann Moody and Gloria Jean Moody (Earl); and son-in-law Don Hammer. and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents, Donald and Gracie Easton; her husband, Carl Lincoln Stanford Sr.; her daughter, Sharon Hammer; siblings Sonny Easton, Shirley Cox, and Dolly Kicklighter; as well as her nephew Kenny Moody.
Family will receive friends on Sunday November 9, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday November 9, 2025 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Ben Beasley officiating.
Burial will follow the service in Allenhurst Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
