Janet “Jan” Hill, age 83, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, in Jesup, Georgia. She was born on August 9, 1942, and lived a life centered on love, and devotion to those she held dear.
Janet was preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard Paul Hoffer Jr., the father of her children, and later by her husband, Gary Hill. She was also preceded in death by her beloved fur babies, Talulah, Sugar, Sugar II, Hersey, and Bailey, who brought her immense comfort and joy throughout the years. Janet had a deep and abiding love for animals, and her pets were truly her companions and family.
She leaves behind her loving children, Belinda Musick (Terry) of Carthage NC; Billy Hoffer (Sherie) of Bloomingdale GA; Jamie Coursey (Duane) of Jesup GA; and Jill Hina (Tony, aka Boomer) of Zanesville OH, who were the pride and joy of her life. Janet’s love for her children was unwavering, and caring for them was always her greatest purpose.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Chase Rodriguez of Richmond Hill GA; Trace Musick (Terese) of Cameron NC; Slade Musick (Kristin) of Carthage NC; Nicole Holtzkamper (Justin) of Guyton GA; Jessica Rainey (Daniel) of Guyton GA; Whitney Schmidt (Kevin) of Ludowici GA; Skyler Hoffer (Alicia) of Bloomingdale GA; Aaron Hoffer (Natalie) of Savannah GA; Jessica Coursey of Jesup GA; and Erin Barker (Ross) of Zanesville OH. Janet loved her grandchildren, and held each of them in her heart.
Janet was also blessed with several great-grandchildren, all of whom brought a new generation of joy and meaning to her family, and will carry forward her legacy.
Janet will be remembered for her enduring love for animals, her quiet strength, and the way she faced life in her own way, through many seasons. Her legacy lives on through the family she loved, and the memories that will continue to be shared for generations to come.
“I love you, a bushel and a peck. . .”, will always have special meaning to those left behind.
The family will be holding a private service in the spring to honor and celebrate Janet’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your local Humane Society in her memory.
