Hinesville
John F. Weatherbee (SFC, United States Army, retired) 83, passed away at home Friday, December 28, 2018, surrounded by his family.
Born in Astabula, OH, he lived most of his life in Hinesville. Retired from the United States Army after 23 years of service, he was a Vietnam Veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart. He later retired from the United States Postal Service after 23 years of service. He was a Mason and Scottish Rite. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed watching high school football.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Weatherbee.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Janet Weatherbee; son, Gary Weatherbee (Cindy), and daughter, Terri Middleton, of Long County; granddaughter, Lindsey Middleton; and great-granddaughters, Marley and Laney.
The family will receive friends 1-2 pm, Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Committal service with Full Military Honors will follow at 3 pm in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the charity of your choice are suggested.
