Judith (Judy) Roberts Rockwood passed away May 25, 2026, with her husband, Charles Ainsworth (Rocky) Rockwood IV, sons Charles A. (Chaz) Rockwood V, and Zachary (Zach) Roberts Rockwood, and her dedicated dog, Thor (the Wonder Dog), by her side. Judy was born in Seymour. Indiana, on February 5, 1951. She was a tremendous wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. As a speech pathologist for over thirty (30) years, she was employed by the Liberty County School system prior to her retirement. Judy truly enjoyed working with her students and the school’s staff, and she worked hard to help as many students as she could.
Traveling the world with her husband and children, Judy represented the United States in a manner that exhibited the very best of our country to the rest of the world. She is survived by seven grandchildren: Madison Rockwood, Maryn Rockwood, Eli Rockwood, Charles A. (Cash) Rockwood VI, Peyton Rockwood, Declan Rockwood, and Berkeley Rockwood. Her brother, Dr. Jerry D. Roberts, resides in Seymour, Indiana. Her daughter-in-law, Stacy Rockwood, resides in Indialantic, FL, and her daughter-in-law, Brandi Rockwood, resides in Augusta, Georgia.
Judy was predeceased by her father, Clifford D. Roberts, and mother, Mildred Dewey Roberts.
Judy was the most precious and truly beautiful woman I have ever known. In another week, she and I would have celebrated our 51st wedding anniversary. There is no possible way my family or I can put into words Judy’s importance to us. She was our matriarch and reason for being. She was there supporting each of us with her love and warmth. She was our rock. Throughout our years together, I was never worthy of being blessed with her love. The satisfaction and love I felt for her as I reached out to touch and hold her every morning made everything right in the world. Having her as my wife and best friend made my life and my son’s lives complete. Although she’s no longer within my reach, it will be impossible for me not to smile when I think of her. It will be impossible for me to see beauty without her.
I realize this is not a typical obituary, but Judy was not a typical person. She was so much more. The embodiment of love and grace, she loved her sons and grandchildren to a level unknown by most. Each day with her has been a blessing from God. Judy came home near the end, and we were allowed to pull her tight against us and attempt to tell her how much we loved her. We will be forever thankful for the extra time we were given, for which we were blessed. She was the most wonderful woman to have graced this world.
