Julie Cordella "Della" Horne

Julie Cordella “Della” Horne of Riceboro, Georgia, was born on April 27, 1969, and passed away on August 2, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She lived a life filled with love, compassion, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.

A proud 1987 graduate of Bradwell Institute, Della went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, a field that reflected her passion for helping others and making a difference. She was proud of her education and the values it represented.

Above all else, Della cherished her family. She was a devoted wife, loving daughter, proud mother, and adoring grandmother. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—taking peaceful walks on the beach, spending time with her beloved dogs, and making memories with those she loved most. She also had a deep love for music, especially the songs of Tom Petty, whose music was the soundtrack to many cherished moments throughout her life. Della had a smile that could light up any room and a laugh that was truly unforgettable. Her kindness, strength, and loving heart touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Rudolph Jerry Martin, lovingly known as “Fox,” and her infant brother, Jeffrey Martin.

Della is survived by her devoted husband, Mark Horne; her mother, Julie Martin; her daughter, Hailey Baxter (Clint) of Riceboro; her stepchildren, Justin Wallace and Taylor Horne, both of Ludowici; her brother, Jonathan Pirkle (RaDonna) of Townsend; and her two cherished grandchildren, Will Baxter and Brycen Baxter. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure the love, warmth, laughter, and joy she brought into their lives.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Georgia Hospice Care team for the compassionate care, kindness, dignity, and support they provided to Della and her family. Their dedication and comfort during this journey have meant more than words can express.

Della’s legacy of love, laughter, and selfless devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

A Celebration of Della's Life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 5 p.m. in "God's Country" at 80 Dog Flea Hill, Riceboro, Georgia 31323.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the End Alzheimer's Association in Della's name.
