Kathryn Godley Walden

Kathryn (Kathy) Godley Walden passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, at her home in Hinesville, Georgia.

Kathy was born to Sylvia & Grayson Godley in Savannah, Georgia, on August 2, 1960. She had a lifelong passion for learning, especially in nature and science. She channeled that passion for learning into an influential career teaching high school and college science. Kathy was a dedicated teacher who impacted countless students in Richmond, Liberty, and Long counties. When she wasn’t teaching, she could be found spending time with her grandchildren, feeding the birds in her backyard, or curled up with one of her dogs & a good book.

Kathy is preceded in death by her father, Grayson Godley; her brother, Bud Godley; and her granddaughter, Laurel Avery Walden.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Eddie J. Walden; her children, Cody (Aimee), Erin (Phillip) & Andrew (Sydney); and many beloved grandchildren. Kathy is also survived by her mother, Sylvia Findley; brother, Clay (Charlene) Godley, and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Family will receive friends at Carter Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 5 p.m.

A celebration of life service will follow on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Hinesville, Georgia, at 10:30 a.m.

The family asks that flowers be sent to Carter Funeral Home or a donation be made to St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.
