Larry Wayne Hostetler, of Allenhurst, Georgia, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2026, at his home.

Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many in the surrounding area. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1991, earning, among others, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Bronze Star Medal.

Larry was a hardworking man who enjoyed working with his hands and built some of the furniture and lamps in his home. During his time stationed in Berlin, Germany, Larry and family had many interesting adventures with friends old and new. He made many friends around the world during his military service as an adult, and as the son of an Air Force officer. He loved America and enjoyed everything related to politics and the history of our wonderful country, as well as the history of religion. Many will also remember Larry and his service dog, Izzy, always being together. Larry was always upbeat and smiled at everyone he met.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest & Harriett Hostetler, and his former wife Janet Hutton Hostetler. He leaves behind his wife Anita Hostetler, a daughter Shannon Hostetler, and two stepchildren from his previous marriage, Gary Grant and Samantha Grant (David Hake), as well as five stepchildren from his current marriage, Brock Good, Anjanette Good, Leeannah Good (Chuck Mock), Ashley Anderson, and Juliette Anderson (Brett Biddle). Larry is also survived by a half-brother, Barry L. VanScoyoc of Henrico, North Carolina, as well as many step-grandchildren who will always remember their “Opa.” Larry had many friends across Liberty, Bryan, and Chatham County who will miss his quick smile and generous spirit.

Larry will always be remembered for the love he had for his family, his independent, hardworking nature, and his passion for the things he enjoyed most. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the special moments he shared with those who knew and loved him.
