Lt. Dwayne Edgar Stoutamire, born on May 25, 1958, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 5, 2025, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup, Georgia. A dedicated and respected figure, Dwayne served with honor as a Lieutenant Corrections Officer with the Georgia Department of Corrections for 16 years, a testament to his commitment to public service and the safety of his community.

He furthered his education by earning an Associate's Degree from Southeastern Technical College, equipping himself with the knowledge that would serve him in his career and life.

In addition to his professional achievements, Dwayne proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard during Operation Iraqi Freedom, exemplifying his dedication to his country and his fellow citizens.

An individual with diverse interests, Dwayne was recognized as a Grandmaster Dart Thrower in Washington State, showcasing his talent and passion for the sport. His love for his community was also reflected in his involvement with local churches, attending Christ Temple (A.M.E) Church in McKeesport and First African Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory. Dwayne is survived by his dear relations, including Marcus McShan (Avery), Dawn Arrington (Michael Sr), India Reamer, Pierceson Simone McShan, Ethan Dwayne McShan, Ayla Grace McShan, Michaela Renee Arrington, Michael Patrick Arrington Jr., his identical twin Dwight Stoutamire (Antonia), and R'Wanda (Ellis) Hogan (Keith). He also had a host of nieces and nephews, among whom his niece Jodi Dowd of Hinesville provided exceptional care for her uncle during his later years.

He is preceded in death by his father George Ellis and mother Hasel Eubanks.

Dwayne was predeceased by his beloved wife Sylvia (Davis) Stoutamire, whose memory he held dear. The legacy of Lt. Dwayne Edgar Stoutamire will continue to inspire those who knew him, as they remember his kindness, professional dedication, and deep love for his family and community. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Family will receive friends on Saturday August 23, 2025 at 11a.m.

Funeral services will be held at 12p.m at the chapel of Carter Funeral Home.
