Ret. Sergeant Major Alfred Giavelli Jr.

Sgt. Major Alfred Giavelli Jr. (U.S. Army, Retired), 77, died peacefully at home in Midway, GA, December 3, 2025.

Alfred was born in the Panama Canal Zone on July 12, 1948, and grew up Maracaibo State in Venezuela. He married his beloved wife Judith M. Wong Hendricks in 1972. They would go on to have two children together, Alfred Ill in 1972 and Anthony in 1980.

He was preceded in death by Alfred Giavelli Sr. & Virginia Almanza Fossatti.

His military career that spanned 25 years would take him from a young soldier in Germany to Southeast Asia, the Korean Peninsula, Latin America and throughout United States before retiring in Coastal Georgia.

Alfred was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion along with his involvement in his Catholic faith. His interests were vast to include fishing, hunting, simple walks in the woods, gardening, travel and history. His curiosity and energy were endless. Alfred never shied from a project that was too small or too large.

He is survived by his wife Judith, two sons Alfred and Anthony, and four sisters Shirley, Sonia, Betty & Rosemary.

The service will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025 at 1 PM at St. Stephen Catholic Church. (399 Woodland Drive, Hinesville, GA 31313)
