Celebrating the Life of (Ret.) SFC Jaime-Genera Rosario
Jaime Genera-Rosario, a man of immense humor, service, and heart, passed away surrounded by the love of the family he spent his life protecting. A retired Sergeant First Class, Jaime’s life was defined by his 24-year career in the U.S. Army and his role as the joyful patriarch of his family.

Jaime’s journey began in the Bronx, where he was born with a sharp wit and a resilient spirit. However, it was his upbringing in Caguas, Puerto Rico, that truly shaped his identity and fueled a lifelong pride in his heritage. This unique blend of New York grit and Puerto Rican warmth made him naturally magnetic. His foundation was built on faith and community, serving as an altar boy at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and attending Notre Dame from childhood through his senior year.

For 24 years, Jaime served his country with honor and distinction. As a Sergeant First Class (SFC), he was a leader who led with integrity. While he took his duties seriously, he was famous among his fellow soldiers for his incredible sense of humor. He knew exactly how to break the tension with a joke or a well-timed story, making him not just a respected leader, but a beloved friend to many in the service.

Beyond the uniform, Jaime was a man of deep devotion. He was a:
Beloved Husband: A steady partner and protector.
Devoted Father and Grandfather: The man who could always make his kids and grandkids laugh.
Cherished Brother and Uncle: A constant source of support and "Bronx-style" humor for his extended family.
He was the guy who could light up a room just by walking into it. Whether he was sharing a meal or telling a story about his time in the military, Jaime made life feel a little brighter for everyone around him.
"A life lived with laughter is a life lived well."

Final Salute

Jaime’s legacy lives on in the laughter of the stories his family will continue to tell, the steadfast values he instilled in his children, and the freedoms he defended throughout twenty-four years of dedicated service. Though he is deeply missed, his spirit is etched into the lives of those he loved.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Eugenia Gerena; his children, Yessica VanValkenburgh, Mary Ann Gerena, James H. Gerena, and Christina Gerena; and his cherished grandchildren, Ivy and King Jaime Gerena. He also leaves behind his twin brother, Pedro Gerena (Gladys Gerena) and his nieces, Tania and Bianca Gerena.
