Roy O. Pace Jr. was born on August 16, 1934, and passed away on June 25, 2026.

Roy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lynn Pace; his son, Rusty Pace (Jeannie); and his daughter, Della Hepner. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Rachel Nemati (Michael), Chance Pace (Olivia), Abigail Pace, Penny Guiles (Randy), Brian Justice (Amy), Casey Hepner, Daniel Graham (Emily), Melissa Friday (Phillip), as well as 12 great-grandchildren.

Roy was preceded in death by his daughter, Deedee Musselwhite.

Roy’s life was marked by extraordinary achievement, particularly through his distinguished 28-year military career. He retired as Command Sergeant Major at Fort Stewart, Georgia. He served honorably in the United States Army, including service during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

A proud member of the 82nd Airborne Division and among the early members of the Army’s Special Forces (Green Berets), Roy exemplified courage, leadership, and dedication to his country, helping to build a lasting legacy of excellence within the Special Forces community.

His service was recognized with numerous military honors and awards, including the Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, Combat Medical Badge, Presidential Unit Citation, Master Parachutist Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, among many others.

After retiring from the Army in 1980, Roy and Lynn enjoyed life on their 22-acre property with its horse stables. Roy took pride in caring for the land and found relaxation in one of his favorite pastimes—fishing in their pond and out in the ocean from his boat.

Though Roy O. Pace Jr. is no longer with us, his dedication, courage, and love will remain etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege—and honor—to know him.
