Russell Eric "Rick" Wells

Russell Eric "Rick" Wells, age 65, passed away on August 24, 2026. Born in Jesup, Georgia, Rick grew up in the Gumbranch area of Liberty County, GA and graduated from Bradwell Institute in Hinesville, Georgia, with the Class of 1979.

Shortly after graduation, Rick moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, to work on the oil rigs. His career in the oil industry eventually took him across the world, working in the Middle East. Seeking a new chapter later in life, Rick earned a degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology and dedicated his remaining working years to helping others in various hospital settings. He was a resident of Brunswick, Georgia at the time of his death.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Latrelle Wells; his sister, Penny Wells Hickey; and his grandparents, Theodore and Willie Lee Wells, Willis Middleton and Marion Haymans.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Burbano; his sister, Suzanne Wells Hunt, and her husband Tommy; his daughter, Megan Wells Johnson, and her husband Jeff; his stepson, Michael Burbano and his fiancée Rachel Territo; and his stepson, Sean Burbano and his wife Kimberly, one granddaughter, Susie. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

We are grateful for friends and family who have reached out during this difficult time. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
