SFC. Robert Wallace Simmons U.S. Army Retired

SFC Robert Wallace Simmons, U.S. Army Ret., passed away on August 24, 2026, at Memorial Health University in Savannah, Georgia.

Robert was a devoted father, grandfather, fiancé, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Carolyn Simmons.

Robert is survived by his loving fiancé, Karen Malling

He is also survived by his children, Lilly Simmons, Tuesday Grace (Ed Grace), and Kenneth Marchal (Sharron)

Robert was preceded in death by his son, James Marchal, and his siblings, Norma, Claudia, and Nancy.

He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Nicholas Travis, Jon Travis, Chris Travis, Emily Travis, Amanda Grace, Tiffany Wright, and Crystal Marpeth.

Robert attended Brick School House in Niles, Michigan. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired in 1995. He was also involved with the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

In his free time, Robert enjoyed fishing, fast cars, and spending time with his dog, Chloe. He will be remembered for the life he lived, the memories he made, and the love he shared with those closest to him. Robert’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him

Family will receive friends on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Carter Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 1 p.m. in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, Georgia, with full military honors.
