Sonia P. Lawson

Sonia P. Lawson, 79, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Sonia was born on February 6, 1942 in Panama City, Republic of Panama. She married the love of her life, Gary Lawson in a Catholic church in Panama City on December 4, 1971. She and Gary have lived in Liberty County since 1996. She was a devoted military spouse for over twenty-seven years, and she worked with special needs children on Ft. Stewart. Her job meant a lot to her. She loved to shop in her spare time, but more than anything she loved being with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Gary Lawson; three children, Gary Lawson of Liberty County, Angelene Lawson-Malek (Duane) of Liberty County, and Amanda Lawson of Long County; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Sonia’s family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.

Social distancing guidelines will be observed and masks are required to be worn inside of the funeral home.
