Steven Proper

Steven Proper, age 40, of Hinesville, Georgia, passed away on July 9, 2026.

Steven was born on June 13, 1986, in Johnson City, New York, and grew up in Binghamton, New York, surrounded by a large, lively family. He was the beloved son of James and Shawn Proper. From an early age, Steven possessed a protective spirit, a quick wit, and a creative mind. He left a lasting impression on anyone who ever met him.

To know Steven was to know someone who fiercely valued the people in his life. He wore many titles proudly, but none quite as passionately as son, brother, uncle, grandson, friend, and protector. He had an innate ability to make people laugh, always ready with a joke to lighten the room, and he approached life with a curious spirit, always eager to try new things. His artistic talents allowed him to see and share the beauty in the world around him. Above all, Steven’s heart belonged to his family, and he cherished every moment spent as a devoted uncle and godfather.

Steven is survived by his loving parents, James and Shawn Proper; his dedicated siblings, Ryan (Corrie) Proper, Jamie Miller, Eric Proper, and Tyler (Deanna) Proper; as well as a large, adoring network of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, godchildren, and lifelong friends who will miss his laughter and protective presence every single day.

There will be a celebration of life to be announced later by family.
