William Vaughn Gilbert

William Vaughn Gilbert, 81, of Glennville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, after a long-term illness. 

Vaughn was born on March 15, 1942, in Lagrange, Georgia. He retired after serving 21 years in the United States Air Force. Following his career in the Air Force, he retired with an additional 21 years working for the United States Civil Service.

Vaughn will be welcomed at the gates of Heaven by his wife of 43 years, Nancy Gilbert; his parents, John and Mildred Gilbert; sister-in-law, Margaret Gilbert; and great-granddaughter, Kennedy Reese Coleman.
 
Vaughn will be greatly missed by loved ones. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Stevens (Kevin) and Lois Padrick (Don); his brother, Kenneth Gilbert; grandchildren, Staci Stevens Chapman, Mindi Coleman (Brian), and Kristi Kitchings (Bailey); five great-grandchildren, Jayden Padrick, Arianna Castillo, Emma Chapman, Bowen Kitchings, and Sophie Coleman; his brothers and sisters in-law; James Woodle (Carla), Donnie Woodle (Jeri), Bruce Woodle, Al Woodle (Sandy), Betty Jane Hughes (Larrell), Joyce Hobbs (Donald), and Debbie Hughes (Harlan); and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Carter Funeral Home. A graveside service with Full Military Honors will follow the visitation in Gum Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, 8590 Highway 196, West, Hinesville, Georgia 31313.
